The Tampa Bay Technology Forum has been working to bridge the digital divide since it’s inception. The goal of installing computer labs in every one of the Boys & Girls Clubs (BGC) within Hillsborough and Pasco Counties has been achieved through funds raised by the TBTF, generous partner Firms, and other grants.
Through our Computerrific Initiative the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is closing the digital divide for its youth through various computer and technology programs. The Initiative provides youth with daily access to computer technology. The goal of Computerrific is to integrate technology into every aspect of Boys & Girls Club programs. This assures that all members use technology to help meet their interests and needs.
Through daily access to technology, as well as consistent guidance and support from Boys & Girls Club professionals, youth participating in Computerrific have a better understanding of how computers work, the types of opportunities they provide and their role in modern society. Youth use basic productivity applications to create projects and communicate complex ideas. Youth understand that mastering technology is integral to their economic success.
Boys & Girls Clubs provide daily access to technology, not only for schoolwork assistance but also for career preparation and other personal enrichment activities. More important, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay provide continued support to enable members to learn the skills needed to compete effectively today. With a combination of caring adult staff and cutting-edge programs, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay make a real difference in the future success of our youth.
